Breast Reduction

Neck and shoulder pain is a common complaint of patients who have large, hanging breasts due to the malposition of the breast tissue on the chest wall. A breast reduction will help make the breasts smaller and reposition them back onto the chest wall to help alleviate these symptoms almost immediately.

What is a breast reduction?

While it might seem like a silly question, a breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty) is a surgical procedure where a portion of the breast tissue is removed and the nipple-areolar complex is repositioned on the chest wall to create both a smaller and lifted breast.

Patients who have larger breasts with ptosis (hang/sagginess), patients desiring a smaller breast mound, patients suffering from neck/back pain from breast pull or shoulder grooving from bra straps, or patients who experience intertrigo or rashes on under surface of breasts are all good candidates for breast reductions.
