Nipple Reduction
Make it stand out … in a good way
The goal of nipple reduction is to create a nipple that is in proportion to your breast and areolar skin to create an improved size and shape. While some nipples may be too long, too wide or both, these can all be addressed with one relatively simple procedure.
For reduction in nipple length, the incisions are placed at the base of the nipple and well-hidden along the areolar skin. For reduction in nipple width, a section of the nipple tissue is removed with the final incision oriented at the inferior or bottom part of the nipple. Incisions generally heal very well with limited scarring visible.
Additional Information
-
While the techniques used to reduce the nipple are performed in an effort to avoid injury to the breast ducts, there are some patients who will be unable to breast feed after nipple reduction surgery and should take this into account if there are plans for breast feeding in the future.
-
A non-stick dressing is placed around the nipple after the procedure and will be placed in a supportive bra for 2 weeks to allow the incisions to heal. There is usually minimal pain/discomfort in the breast area that is managed with oral pain medications.
-
The cost of ranges from $500 - $1500, not including OR, implant or anesthesia fees.
